OUR VISION

Being committed to worship God in Spirit and Truth and to Intentional Discipleship in order to be equipped for bold Outreach and Witness.

Core Values

1.      The Holy Trinity:

We believe in the living triune God who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit – the Three in One.

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.  We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, of one being with the Father; through Him all things were made.

We believe Jesus is the resurrected Messiah and the means of our salvation.  He came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became truly human.  For our sake He was crucified, suffered death on the cross and was buried. On the third day He rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.  He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and His kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.

 (John 1:1-19, John 14:8-11, John 14:15-21, Matthew 16:16-17)

2.     The Bible as God’s Holy Word:

We believe the Bible is the inerrant, inspired Word of God providing us with the message of salvation for life transforming relationship through and with Jesus Christ.  The Bible is the center of all we believe and provides the foundations for righteous and holy living.  God’s Word comes to us through teaching, study and worship and creates hope for all spheres of our lives.

 (Psalm 1:1-3, Proverbs 24:14, 2 Timothy 3:16–17, John 1:1–5)

3.      Prayer as the Heart of Christian Ministry:

Discerning what God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is doing in our midst is dependent on prayer.  As a praying people we know the success of any ministry comes only through prayer and the power of God’s Spirit.   It is our firm belief and desire that everyone at Community Church will be in ongoing prayer for all we do.

     (1 Thessalonians 5:16–18, James 5:16, Matthew 18:18–19, 2 Chronicles 7:14, Colossians 4:2)

4.      Being a Witness for Christ:

We, corporately and individually, seek ways to bring people to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.  It is our mission, at every intersection of our lives and ministries, to share the Gospel with people of all ages and backgrounds and welcome them into the family of faith.

(Mat. 28:19-20, Romans 10:9-13)

5.       Spiritual Gift Oriented Ministry:

To fulfill our mission we use small groups and one on one interaction, to encourage, teach, and mentor believers so they can grow as Disciples of Christ as they discover their God given spiritual gifts.  We then lead them in putting their gifts to use in ways that glorify God, build the Body of Christ, and build his Kingdom.

(Rom. 12:5-8, 1 Cor. 14:12, Ecclesiastes 4:9-12, 1 Cor. 12, 13, & 14)

6.      Worship that is Vibrant, Relevant, Corporate, and Personal:

God desires the church to be renewed by the power of the Holy Spirit.  Therefore, we believe that worship should be authentic, fresh, creative, and affirming.  Worship is where we involve ourselves in acts of praise, adoration, thanksgiving, listening, discernment, and humility under the direction of Christ’s Spirit.

(John 4:23-24, Colossians 3:16-17, Psalm 100)

7.      Loving Relationships

We believe love is the primary way Christians are to live as followers of Christ.  We believe God calls us to shower all people with love, throughout their faith journey, to help sustain their faith as we demonstrate God’s love in all we say and do.  We are committed to sharing God’s love and grace with the world no matter where it might take us or to whom it might lead us.

(Matt. 22:36-40, Eph. 4:31-5:2, Gal. 5:13-14)

8.      The Sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion

We believe the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion are a means of God’s grace.  They draw us into a deeper relationship with Christ.  Baptism promises new life and cleansing.  Holy Communion nourishes and satisfies our longing to be one with God.  We believe God invites and includes all persons to the waters of baptism and to the table of Christ.

(Acts 2:37-42, Luke 22:14-20)
